Emmaboda Energi och Miljö AB
Background
The district heating network in Emmaboda consists of three facilities and is owned by Emmaboda Energi och Miljö AB. The plants use biomass boilers where residual products from the forestry and wood industries, such as sawdust, wood chips, and wood pellets, are used as fuel. To reduce electricity costs and the load on the local power grid, Emmaboda chose to invest in an ORC system.
Our solution
Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 99.9 kW of electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity generation from the hot water of the boilers at one of the facilities. In total, the system is expected to produce 580 MWh annually, corresponding to 430 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents when replacing European marginal electricity.
