Hörby heating plant

Background:

The heating plant in Hörby was started in 2004 and is owned by Solör Bioenergi Syd AB. The plant consists of a biofuel boiler with an output of 6 MW that fires wood chips from local actors. As the plant did not have a previous steam boiler and traditional steam turbines will not be profitable at smaller existing heating plants, Solör Bionenergi chose to invest in an ORC turbine to cover its internal electricity consumption.

Our solution:

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 49.9 kW electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity production from the boiler’s hot water. In total, the system is expected to be able to produce 400 MWh of electricity annually, corresponding to annual emission savings of 360 CO2 equivalents when substituting coal-based electricity. Solör Bioenergi has chosen to sign a service agreement with Againity to ensure a long service life and minimal maintenance.

ETC solar energy park with greenhouse heating

Background:

ETC solar energy park is one of Sweden’s largest solar parks with a capacity of 400 kW. The solar park is owned by ETC and is located in Katrineholm. In 2017, it was decided that the solar park would be supplemented with a combined electricity and heat production facility connected to a greenhouse for tomatoes. The facility includes two heat sources consisting of concentrating solar panels and a biomass fired boiler. The heat sources are connected to an ORC system that produces electricity and hot water for the greenhouse. The plant also includes an accumulator tank to even out daily energy fluctuations.

Our solution:

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 49.9 kW electricity as well as a flue gas heat exchanger, a hot water tank and a cooling system.

Bräkne-Hoby heating plant

Background:

The heating plant in Bräkne-Hoby is owned by Ronneby Miljö & Teknik AB and is a municipal company located in Ronneby. The plant consists of a 5 MW hot water boiler that is fired with wood chips. To be at the forefront of development for small-scale cogeneration and cut energy costs at the plant, Ronneby Miljö & Teknik AB chose to invest in an ORC turbine from Againity.

Our solution:

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 49.9 kW electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity production from the boiler’s hot water. In total, the system is expected to be able to produce 300 MWh of electricity annually, corresponding to annual emission savings of 270 CO2 equivalents substituting coal-based electricity. Ronneby Miljö & Teknik has chosen to sign a service agreement with Againity to ensure a long service life and minimal maintenance.

Norrköping wastewater treatment plant

Background:

Norrköping’s wastewater treatment plant is owned by NODRA AB (formerly Norrköping Vatten och Avfall AB). The plant produces biogas that is primarily sold and upgraded to vehicle gas. To take advantage of the surplus gas that could not be sold, NODRA chose to collaborate with Againity and invest in a biogas-to-energy system.

Our solution:

Againity delivered a complete container with gas boiler, hot water tank and an automated ORC system with a capacity of 49.9 kW electricity gross. The plant is estimated to produce approximately 85 MWh of electricity and 1000 MWh of hot water annually. The hot water is used internally to heat the plant’s digestion chamber. NODRA has chosen to sign a service agreement with Againity to ensure a long service life and minimal maintenance.
