Perstorp District Heating Plant – Perstorp, Sweden

We are now an electricity supplier at the Perstorp district heating plant.

Background

Our solution

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum electrical capacity of 315 kW. The ORC system enables electricity production from the hot water of the heating boiler. In total, the system is expected to produce 1.35 GWh of electricity annually, corresponding to annual emission reductions of 1,215 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents when replacing European marginal electricity. Perstorp Fjärrvärme AB has signed a service agreement with Againity to ensure long lifetime and minimal maintenance.

3 quick questions with Charlotta Wendt, Perstorp Fjärrvärme AB

How did your interest in an ORC turbine arise?

We heard positive feedback from other district heating companies about Againity and their machines. It seemed like a credible and proven technology, and it gives us the opportunity to take control of our own electricity and grid costs.

What reactions have you received regarding the project?

We have only received positive reactions, both internally and externally. Many people in the industry are curious and ask how it’s going. The ORC turbine has not created any significant additional workload for our staff – it simply stands there and runs.

How do you feel about the ORC turbine today?

We believe we have received a well-executed project from start to finish. We are very satisfied with the final product and proud to be able to convert our sawdust into green electricity.
