Arvidsjaur Energi AB
Background
The district heating plant in Arvidsjaur, owned by Arvidsjaur Energi AB, has in recent years undergone extensive modernization to enable more sustainable production while also strengthening resilience during power outages. To both reduce operating costs and enable island mode operation, the facility invested in an ORC turbine and a battery system from Againity, integrated with a 7 MW wood-fuel-fired hot water boiler.
Our solution
Againity delivered a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 625 kW / 1,200 kWh, integrated with an ORC turbine with a maximum capacity of 400 kW of electricity production. In total, the ORC system is expected to produce 1,408 MWh annually, corresponding to emission savings of 1,267 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents when replacing European marginal electricity.
