Background

The district heating plant in Kaunas, owned by Kauno energija, has in recent years focused on more sustainable heat production. As part of this initiative, Kauno energija invested in an ORC turbine powered by hot water from a boiler. The investment not only reduces electricity and grid costs but also helps the operation move toward greater climate neutrality.

Our solution

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 450 kW of electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity generation from the hot water produced by the boiler.
