Kungälv Energi AB

Background

The district heating plant in Kungälv is owned by Kungälv Energi AB and uses biomass boilers to produce district heating for the municipality. Kungälv is committed to becoming 100% fossil-free, and an investment in an ORC system is well suited for fossil-free electricity production. With this investment, Kungälv contributes to a more sustainable and climate-smart society.

Our solution

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 560 kW of electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity generation from the hot water produced by the boiler. In total, the system is expected to produce 3,080 MWh annually, corresponding to emission savings of 2,772 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents when replacing European marginal electricity.
