Vardar Varme AS

Background

The district heating plant in Hønefoss, owned by Vardar Varme AS, uses raw forest wood chips, bark, demolition wood, and other biomass fuels from local suppliers to produce environmentally friendly heat. The plant produces approximately 48.5 GWh per year. The ORC turbine will play an important role in Vardar Varme’s commitment to promoting sustainable energy production and reducing carbon emissions.

Our solution

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 450 kW of electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity generation from part of the heat from the boiler. In total, the system is expected to produce 1,633 MWh of electricity annually, corresponding to emission savings of 1,470 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents when replacing European marginal electricity.
