Värnamo Energi AB
Background
Värnamo Energi currently operates six local district heating networks that produce district heating. The fuel mainly consists of renewable biomass, and the ash remaining after combustion is returned to the forest as fertilizer. As part of its sustainability efforts and to reduce electricity and grid costs, Värnamo Energi invested in an ORC turbine connected to its 14.3 MW hot water boiler.
Our solution
Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 250 kW of electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity generation from the hot water produced by the boiler. In total, the system is expected to produce 789 MWh annually, corresponding to emission savings of 710 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents when replacing European marginal electricity. Värnamo Energi AB has chosen to sign a service agreement with Againity to ensure a long lifespan and minimal maintenance.
