Vilhelmina heating plant, Sweden

Vilhelmina heating plant, Sweden

Background:

Solör Bioenergi Fjärrvärme AB has been operating the heating plant in Vilhelmina since 2014, where a wood chip-fired hot water boiler produces district heating for the municipality and industries. To become more self-sufficient in electricity and at the same time reduce the load on the local electricity grid, Solör Bioenergi decided to invest in an ORC turbine.

Our solution:

Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 250 kW electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity production from the boiler’s hot water. In total, the system is expected to produce 830 MWh of electricity annually, corresponding to annual emission savings of 700 tonnes of CO2 equivalents when substituting coal-based electricity. Solör Bioenergi Fjärrvärme AB has chosen to sign a service agreement with Againity to ensure a long service life and minimal maintenance.
