Eskilstuna Heating Plant, Sweden

Eskilstuna Heating Plant, Sweden

Background:

The district heating in Eskilstuna is owned by Eskilstuna Strängnäs Energi och Miljö (ESEM). ESEM chose to build a new heating plant and at the same time invest in an ORC system to reduce its electricity costs and load on the local grid.

Our solution:
Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 99.9 kW of electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity production from the boiler’s hot water. In total, the system is expected to produce 355 MWh annually, corresponding to emission savings of 320 tonnes of CO2 equivalents when substituting coal-based electricity. ESEM also chose to sign a service agreement with Againity for minimal maintenance and to ensure a long lifetime of the ORC system.
