Tibro Heating Plant, Sweden

Tibro Heating Plant, Sweden

Background:

The district heating plant in Tibro is owned by Nevel AB. Nevel AB currently operates over 40 district heating networks in Finland, Sweden, and Estonia. In Tibro, the plant consists of a biofuel boiler with local fuel from the Swedish forest. The installation of the ORC system promotes Nevel’s sustainability goals, which include investment in renewable energy and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. With the investment in an ORC system, Nevel in Tibro gets its own supply of green fossil-free electricity that also supports the local electricity grid.

Our solution:
An automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 99.9kW was supplied by Againity. The ORC system solution enables the production of electricity from the hot water of the biofuel boiler. In total, the system is expected to produce 560 MWh annually, which corresponds to 504 tonnes of CO2 equivalents when substituting coal-based electricity.
