Emmaboda Heating Plant, Sweden

Emmaboda Heating Plant, Sweden

Background:

The district heating network in Emmaboda consists of three plants and is owned by Emmaboda Energi och Miljö AB. The plants use biofuel boilers where residual products from the forest and wood industry such as shavings, wood chips and wood pellets are used as fuel. To reduce its electricity costs and the load on the local grid, Emmaboda chose to invest in an ORC system.

Our solution:
Againity delivered an automated ORC system with a maximum capacity of 99.9kW electricity production. The ORC system enables electricity production from the boilers’ hot water at one of the plants. In total, this system is expected to produce 580 MWh annually, equivalent to 430 tonnes of CO2 equivalents when substituting coal-based electricity.
